On Dec 11, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a group of photographers who participated in the Help-Portrait Events that happened across the globe. Help-Portrait is a community of photographers coming together across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community. We held ours in Toronto at a Community Centre in the east of Toronto. myself and 15 other photographers (and countless other make-up artists, hairstylists, and volunteers) participated in this event. As part of it’s mission, Help-Portrait “…is about GIVING the pictures, not taking them…you have the chance to give a family something they may have never had before—a portrait together.” During some free time, I was able to take some quick photos of the photographers themselves. As a thank you for truly inspiring me and for having such a beautiful spirit, I wanted to put these photos here.

Recently, I bought an iphone and I’m loving it. I haven’t been able to stop shooting with my iphone. Two apps I really love using are Instagram and Camera+. Last week I went down to Cherry Beach to do some location scouting and began shooting with my iphone a lot. Here are some of the shots I took using Instagram:

He’s just known to me as Stretch. I’m not sure what he does, but he seems like someone who has a lot on his mind. Seems like a very soulful yet misunderstood person. That’s all I know, but I could be wrong.

last night I attended the CD release of my good friend Lester McLean. I was fortunate enough to have taken the photos for his album, 4,3,2,1. The whole band is super talented and the epitome of soulful. Actually, the whole night was soulful, from the musicians to the people in the room to the venue. mar 19.11 – my trip to the Dominican Republic

On my recent trip to the Dominican Republic, I spent so much time on the beach because it was so beautiful. I ended up taking so many pictures and thought I would post some up here. Although I had been there before, I stayed in town this time as opposed to a resort. It definitely changed me, to see the beauty of the people and of the nature contrasted with the poverty. I didn’t want to post any photos of the poverty, but to know that that backdrop exists out of frame will always remind me to ask what’s outside of the frame.

I was once told that in order to be a great photographer, you must be able to light and shoot the human skin. So a couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to shoot Bella. She had these crazy amazing tattoos and a very easy-going and fun personality. One of my ideas was to shoot a series of photos on the growth of a woman to be comfortable in her own skin. Here it is.
