the stories
What is 15225?
A Demographic. A Movement. A Photographic Series. As a demographic, specifically the 15-25 year old demographic, 15225 is a movement to pass on the torch from one generation to the next. This photographic series features youth between 15-25 years old. This is the age range when we define ourselves as individuals. We often look back at memories from this time and reminisce about our heyday. By the end of this period, we begin to focus on developing the next generation, whether becoming parents, teachers, or role models.
This series is about those individuals who are making a difference in the world in their own way; a study of their passions; their lives thus far; their hopes; their aspirations. It is a way to document the coming of age - or introduction of - a generation, their struggles and their successes. It is my way of passing on the torch and some may say a way to recapture my youth.
My hope is that by telling these stories it gives inspiration for others to follow their passions and find their own unique identities. I ask that all those that find inspiration in any one of these stories leave a little note in the comment section.
A Little About Andrew Lee
Andrew is a portrait/editorial photographer. His interest in youth dates back to his time as a young person and to his work as both a social worker and youth worker. His photos tell a story deeper than what the eye sees. He has an easy-going personality that captures the energy and soul of his subjects.“Photography is my art form, it is the medium in which I express myself best. Unlike sketching, or painting, or dance, or music, photography allows me to communicate most honest to what I see. It is in the framework of honesty and intimacy that I wish to pass on the idea of identity to the next generation…and to open a world of possibilities to them.”
